August 31 — International Day of Safe, Secure and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence

On August 31, 2026, the United Nations General Assembly, at the initiative of the Republic of Tajikistan, adopted a resolution declaring August 31 as the International Day of Safe, Secure and Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, to be observed annually from 2027 onwards.

This initiative represents an important step towards developing artificial intelligence based on safety, reliability, responsibility, and the protection of human rights and interests.

The choice of August 31 also carries historical significance: on this day in 1955, the proposal to organize the Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence was put forward.

🇹🇯 Through this initiative, Tajikistan once again demonstrates its active role in shaping the global agenda on emerging technologies and the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
